ISLAMABAD: International travelling expo on Chemistry on Monday opened at Children Library Complex, Lahore for eight days.
The expo is jointly organized by the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF), the Embassy of France, and the Education Department Lahore (Children Library Complex), said a press release issued here.
Major objective of the expo on chemistry is to attract the youth towards science education.
Federal Secretary Science and Technology Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar was the chief guest at the opening ceremony, emphasized on the need of popularizing science among the masses. He interacted with the students and advised them to learn science.
He highlighted the importance of mother tongue in understanding various scientific phenomenons.
PSF Chairman Prof Dr Manzoor H Soomro briefed the audience about various activities of the PSF for promotion and popularization of science in the country.
He said that the PSF is mandated for popularization of science at grassroots level, for which a number of activities including travelling expos are being organized.
He added that the Inquiry Based Science Education Approach "La main la pate-LAMAP" is initiated by the PSF in 25 Pakistani schools with the help of Academei des sciences, France.
Additional Secretary, Education Reforms, Punjab Malik Mukhtar Ahmad Naul said that the Punjab Government was taking necssary steps for education sector reforms.
