KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan said that about 5,500 police personnel will be recruited in the province.
He has also sought a list of police personnel deployed unnecessarily for security purposes and other reasons whether they are retired or serving.
Presiding over a meeting of the police officers here on Sunday, the Minister also called for details regarding the deployment of the police personnel.
He directed that for curbing the crimes, especially the street crimes, the police personnels' deployment should be at the right places and in accordance with a strategy.
Wassan also instructed that police personnel be withdrawn from unnecessary places and be deployed at the points where they are required.
He said that for curbing the crimes, police force is very much required and by withdrawing the police personnel from unnecessary places, this shortage can be overcome.
Wassan further pointed out that in view of the shortage, 5,500 policemen would be recruited.
The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Wasim Ahmed, Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi, Akhtar Hussain Gorchani, Zonal DIGs, SSPs and other police officers.
