ISLAMABAD: The National Youth Assembly (NYA) is all set to launch the "Go Green Youth" campaign on March 1 with plantation of more than 50,000 plants in government educational institutions and other areas.
"We have planned to achieve our target till National Tree Plantation Day on August 18", said NYA President Hanan Ali Abbasi.
Abbasi told APP the campaign would be launched in collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Head of Environment Wing of authority Waheed-ud-Din had assured his support in this regard at a recent meeting.
The areas for plantation will be identified soon by the CDA, he said.
The area covered by forests in the country has been reduced to about 4.8 percent of the total land and there is a dire need to plant more trees and also create awareness about the issue, he observed.
