The Karachi Port handled 137,188 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,735 tonnes of import cargo and 37,453 tonnes of export cargo including 7,702 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 99,735 tonnes comprised of 50,749 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,600 tonnes of rock phosphate and 40,386 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 37,453 tonnes comprised of 37,253 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,702 containers comprising of 4,000 containers import and 3,702 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 926 of 20's and 1,222 of 40's loaded while 126 of 20's and 252 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 933 of 20's and 725 of 40's loaded containers while 257 of 20's and 531 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely X-Press Annapurna, Indus Dolphin and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Irenes Reliance, ER Felixstowe, KMTC Dubai and Gulf Coast carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 191,300 tonnes comprising 144,180 tonnes of import cargo and 47,350 tonnes of export cargo including 3,964 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 144,180 tonnes includes 49,514 tonnes of coal; 74,628 tonnes of LNG; 8,600 tonnes of palm oil; 10,155 tonnes of canola; 8,619 tonnes of chemical and 41,819 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,350 tonnes includes 5,549 tonnes of rice; 8,475 tonnes of cement and 33,326 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,964 containers comprising of 2,210 containers import and 1,754 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were three ships namely Nordmed, Methane Nile Eagle and Argent Cosmos carrying containers, LNG and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Kensington and BTG Kailash carrying containers and canola seeds respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, canola seeds, rice, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as six vessels viz. W-Star, Johnny-P, African Lunde, Ocean Enterprise, Nordstar Intrepid and NCC Amal carrying soyabean, coal, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. MOL Gateway and NCC Amal carrying containers and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MOL Gateway carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
