Youm-e-Ashur, the tenth Muharram was observed peacefully across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to pay homage to martyrs Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala.
Amid tight security, a total of 12 mourner processions held in Peshawar. The main Alam and Zuljinah procession of 10th Muharram was taken out from Imambargah Agha Syed Ali Shah Qissa Khawani Bazaar this morning which concluded after reaching its final destination
More than eighteen thousand personnel of police and other law enforcing agencies were deployed in different parts of the province including aerial surveillance of the procession routes was carried out to maintain law and order.
Security was remained high alert on the routes of Muharram processions to avoid any untoward incident. Closed-circuit cameras were installed at sensitive points to keep a watch on majalis and processions. Heavy contingent of police were deployed to ensure foolproof security. Water and milk stands for the mourners were placed at various points on the route of the processions.
Police were deployed in all sensitive areas and all roads leading to the imambargahs were blocked by police and anyone who wants to join the mourners had to pass through strictly checked. Mobile and wireless internet services were restored around 8:00 PM on Tuesday in Peshawar, which suspended on 9th and 10th Muharram to keep law and order situation under control.
Similarly, amid tight security, processions of Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah were taken also held in Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Hangu, Lakki Marwat, Parachinar and Dera Ismail Khan. Strict security measures were taken to ensure peaceful atmosphere on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashur.
Ulema and Zakireen highlighted the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.
Likewise other parts of the province, the 10th day of Muharram was also observed in Bajaur, Khyber, Mohmand, South Waziristan, North Waziristan and Orakzai districts.
The administration has deployed hundreds of security personnel across the newly merged districts while snap checking of vehicles on entry and exit points have also been carried out. The entire tribal sects fully cooperated with the security agencies during observance of Ashura.
District police Abbottabad provided foolproof security to processions of 10th Muharram where District Police Officer (DPO) Abbottabad Abbas Majeed Khan was also present to monitor the security arrangements.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan visited the command in Kohati gate. Also, Provincial Advisor for Communication Ajmal Wazir visited the central monitoring cell set up for Muharram here at Kohati Gate.
Expressing satisfaction over the steps taken by security agencies. He also directed that all possible measures be taken to ensure law and order situation in KP and duty staff should stay alert during processions and congregations of Muharram.
Meanwhile DIG Kohat region Tayab Hafeez Cheema said that all processions of mourners will end till night in four districts. He said all mourning procession from Kohat till Hangu and Kurram agency were carried out in a peacefully manner.
