The Met Office on Wednesday asked the growers to adopt practices to remove weed from cotton crop to help the important production grow to its full size.
It said that the cotton corps is undergoing a critical weed period, therefore, growers should take steps to weed out the unneeded plants from the important production. It also warned the growers of worm attacks, suggesting plant protection measures.
"Accordingly, farmers are advised to take adoptive measures especially use of PB ropes in consultancy with plant protection department," the Met said, adding that cotton picking may be started after 10am in the morning as there will be dew present on cotton plants.
Farmers should schedule irrigation plans in accordance with the mainly hot and humid weather. The Punjab, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Sindh and the Balochistan are expected to witness a dry and humid weather in the next 10 days.
However, isolated rain and wind-thunderstorm are in, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala Lahore, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat and Mardan Divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir this week.
Daytime temperature may remain below normal whereas nighttime slightly above normal while widely a normal wind pattern is expected to prevail in the most of the agricultural plains of the country until Sep 20.
In the next 24 hours: Weather is expected to remain hot and humid weather in the most parts of the country. "Weak seasonal low lies over northern parts of Balochistan. Continental air is prevailing in most parts of the country," the Met said.
In the last 24 hours: Hot and humid weather prevailed over the most parts of the country with Sibbi sizzling from 45 degrees Celsius, Sukkur, Rohri, Dadu and Noorpur Thal 43, each.
Weather in Karachi is likely to remain hot and humid with partly cloudy skies in the next 24 hours as temperature may range up to 36 degrees Celsius and 80 percent humidity.
