The Karachi Port handled 116,549 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,879 tonnes of import cargo and 25,670 tonnes of export cargo including 7,297 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 90,879 tonnes comprised of 61,575 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,958 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 2,052 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 24,294 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 25,670 tonnes comprised of 21,129 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,941 tonnes of clinkers and 1,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,297 containers comprising of 3,909 containers import and 3,388 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,466 of 20's and 1,221 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 346 of 20's and 496 of 40's loaded containers while 556 of 20's and 747 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Hyundai Tacoma, Irenes Reliance, SC Brilliant, MT Quetta, Camila Spirit, Filia Joy and frieda Selmer carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Kota Cabar, GSL Eleni and Kudos carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 195,735 tonnes comprising 148,771 tonnes of import cargo and 46,964 tonnes of export cargo including 2,928 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 148,771 tonnes includes 68,124 tonnes of coal; 16,920 tonnes of LNG; 7,000 tonnes of palm oil; 6,923 tonnes of canola; 7,090 tonnes of chemical; 22,197 tonnes of mogas; 4,481 tonnes of general cargo and 16,036 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 46,964 tonnes includes 7,368 tonnes of rice and 39,596 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,928 containers comprising of 844 containers import and 2,084 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were six ships namely MOL Generosity, Maersk Denver, Vega Taurus, Star Ploeg, Astarte and Marangas Coronos carrying containers, coal, chemical, canola and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely IVS Swinley Forest carrying coal is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of thirteen vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, rice, canola, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as four vessels viz. Colette, IVS Swinley Forest, Gulf Horizon and Maritime Riyal carrying containers, coal, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. Maersk Bentonville, Prague Express, Colette, IVS Swinley Forest, Nautical Marie and Maritime Riyal carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were three ships namely Maersk Bentonville, Prague Express and Nautical Marie carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely GSL Eleni carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
