Renewable energy solutions necessary to cope with climate change impacts: Malik Amin Aslam

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam Wednesday said that renewable energy solutions including solar power initiatives and emissions free electric automobiles were necessary to cope with climate change impacts.

“The federal government has prepared ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’ project to make the country pollution free, clean and climate change resilient.

The conversion of public buildings on solar energy is one of the significant components of the project which will help to get rid of harmful emissions,” he remarked.

Speaking at the inauguration of the conversion project of Zoological Survey of Pakistan building on Solar Energy, the Adviser said that the federal government had initiated the conversion of public buildings over solar energy under Clean and Green Pakistan projects.

“The previous governments intentionally under special design, halted this Eco-friendly project whereas our government has special focus on solarization of formal means of energy consumption and production,” he added.

He informed that initially, government buildings would be transferred at solar energy system whereas in the next phase, this system would be spread across the country at public and state level.

Malik Amin Alsam went on saying that the solar system of 8 kilowatts was installed at the building of Zoological Survey of Pakistan.

The system was designed and installed by Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET) whereas it was fully funded by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), he added.
