Kashmir under siege

Nothing is working for shameless Narendra Modi government in New Delhi to stop protests by the inmates of the largest prison on earth: occupied Kashmir. Protests have broken out in parts of occupied Srinagar over the last two weeks, some drawing hundreds of people. At least 152 people have been hurt by teargas and pellets since India's paramilitary troops launched a sweeping crackdown.
The BJP-led NDA coalition government must question itself why it has caused profound damage to India's so-called secular credentials through abolition of Article 370 from country's constitution. What has it achieved by imposing curfew on the occupied valley for an indefinite period rendering almost entire Srinagar deserted with shops shut except for some provision stores with shutters half-down? How unfortunate it is that on the Dal Lake, long rows of houseboats, which would typically be packed with tourists this time of the year, float closed and empty, as Indian paramilitary troops patrol its calm waters in boats to create an atmosphere of fear and horror.
