The Karachi Port handled 136,387 tonnes of cargo comprising 95,857 tonnes of import cargo and 40,530 tonnes of export cargo including 7,617 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 95,857 tonnes comprised of 53,708 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,668 tonnes of canola; 5,757 tonnes of DAP; 1,574 tonnes of palm kernel and 32,150 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 40,530 tonnes comprised of 36,107 tonnes of containerised cargo; 310 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,800 tonnes of talcum powder; 2,313 tonnes of rice and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,617 containers comprising of 3,659 containers import and 3,958 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,215 of 20's and 1,151 of 40's loaded while 48 of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 960 of 20's and 563 of 40's loaded containers while 572 of 20's and 650 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Ningbo Express, MP The Belichick and KMTC Dubai carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were three vessels viz. KMTC Dubai, Maersk Progress and Sea King carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 208,413 tonnes comprising 137,857 tonnes of import cargo and 70,556 tonnes of export cargo including 3,562 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 137,857 tonnes includes 33,310 tonnes of LNG; 10,500 tonnes of palm oil; 54,350 tonnes of coal; 5,890 tonnes of soyabean; 462 tonnes of project cargo and 33,345 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 70,556 tonnes includes; 5,723 tonnes of talcum powder; 30,500 tonnes of condensate and 34,333 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,562 containers comprising of 1,755 containers import and 1,807 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely APL New York carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Maersk Sentosa and Yari LNG carrying containers and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, talcum powder, coal, soyabean, LNG, condensate oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. CMA CGM Titus, MOL Generosity, Anet, Chembulk Singapore, Chiarad Amato, Kiran Basporus, Chemroad Sakura, Zoes and TBC Progress respectively carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, rice, coal, chemical and palm kernel respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four ships viz. CMA CGM Titus, MSC Pamela, MOL Generosity and Chemroad Sakura respectively carrying containers and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MSC Pamela carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while another ship namely Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
