The Met Office on Saturday forecast mainly hot and dry weather for the most parts of the country in the next 24 hours. However, it said that a very hot weather may grip eastern Balochistan, Sindh and plain areas of the Punjab and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday. "Continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country," the Met said.
Temperature in Karachi is likely to slide by one degree Celsius to 37 degrees Celsius with higher humidity up to 85 percent in the next 48 hours with a warm and humid weather to prevail. Jaccobabad appeared to be the hottest place in the country with a 50 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours followed by Mithi, Dadu, Mohenjodaro, Rohri and Larkana 48, each.
Weather on Saturday was hot and dry in the most parts of the country but it scorched central and southern Punjab, eastern Balochistan, Sindh, plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. An isolated dust-thunderstorm with rain hit Malakand, Gujranwala divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The scorching heat also triggered the mercury in Hyderabad to 46 degrees Celsius, Multan 45, Faisalabad 44, Lahore 43, Peshawar 41, Islamabad 40, Karachi 38, Quetta 36, Muzaffarabad 35 and Gilgit 30. Mirkhani and Kalam received 3mm of rainfall over the past.
