The local police Wednesday registered a case against station house officer (SHO) and other officials of Shehzad Town police station for their negligence in 10-year-old girl case, who was allegedly killed after rape in the outskirts of the federal capital. The police registered first information report (FIR) against Sub-Inspector Muhammad Abbas Rana and other police officials. Ghulam Nabi, the victim's father, filed the FIR at the Shehzad Town police station under the Section 166 (public servant disobeying law with intent to cause injury to any person) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The father stated in his complaint that he along with other relatives had approached police several times after her daughter went missing to get an FIR registered but police used delaying tactics in doing so. So much so the SHO had alleged that the girl might have eloped.
He called for action to be taken against the SHO and other officials involved on ground of negligence.
Farishta went missing from outside her home on May 15 last in the limits of Shehzad Town police station and her dead body was recovered on May 20. Her clothes helped recognize her body. The police shifted dead body for autopsy and its results are awaited. Samples have also been taken for a DNA test.
The police said that samples taken from her body and the site where Farishta was found dead are being tested to ascertain whether or not she was subjected to gang rape and torture, as alleged by the family.
