The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company Chairman Khursheed Jamali on Wednesday. Khursheed Jamali has been accused of committing irregularities in the affairs of Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company. He had served as company's consultant in the past.
Furthermore, two employees of a private firm have also been detained by the anti-corruption watchdog for interrogation.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Engro Coal Mining Co states: "It has been learnt through the media that the Chairman of the Board of Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (the Company or SECMC ), Khursheed Jamali, has been arrested by NAB officials.
"There is no allegation that Jamali's arrest pertains to SECMC's business or its operations. SECMC is a Government of Sindh majority owned company and Khursheed Jamali represents GoS on the Board of Directors as the Chairman of SECMC.
"The Company upholds transparency and adherence to the law in all its operations and has always performed its business without compromising on business ethics and in compliance with all relevant regulatory statutes and guidelines," the statement said.
