The Karachi Port handled 119,637 tonnes of cargo comprising 97,378 tonnes of import cargo and 22,259 tonnes of export cargo including 5,325 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 97,378 tonnes comprised of 39,920 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,670 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 6,600 tonnes of rock phosphate and 47,188 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 22,259 tonnes comprised of 19,987 tonnes of containerised cargo; 716 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,556 tonnes of rice.
As many as 5,325 containers comprising of 3,315 containers import and 2,010 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 551 of 20's and 1,210 of 40's loaded while 10 of 20's and 167 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 439 of 20's and 425 of 40's loaded containers while 285 of 20's and 218 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Maliakos, Hyundai Oakland, Diyala, Annamaria and Hong Ze Hu carrying containers, vehicle and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. YM Bamboo, Conti Paris, Cardonia, Wan Hai-611, Sea Fortune and Rising Eagle carrying containers, oil tanker and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 173,863 tonnes comprising 141,128 tonnes of import cargo and 32,426 tonnes of export cargo including 3,587 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 141,128 tonnes includes 24,000 tonnes of LNG; 4,000 tonnes of palm oil; 410 tonnes of LPG; 7,234 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 51,660 tonnes of coal; 10,400 tonnes of chemical; 4,006 tonnes of palm kernel and 38,418 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,426 tonnes includes 2,691 tonnes of rice and 29,735 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,587 containers comprising of 2,022 containers import and 1,565 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were four ships namely CV MSC Portugal, MV Frederike Oldendroff, MV GNG Concard and MT Bum Shun carrying containers, coal, soyabean and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Heidi, MV IVS Naruo and MT King Craft carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of thirteen vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, palm kernel, LPG, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eighteen vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, MV Reem-3, MV Gao Yu-2, MV Spar Rigel, MV Tramno Stanton, MV Pedhoulas Trader, MV Fort Macau, MV Observator, MV Norcho Sapeake, MV Lietta, MV Pacific Activity, MV AP Astrade, MT Tomson Gas, MT White Purl, MT Gaspian Gas, MT Gao Cheng-3, MT Maritime Gisela and MT Horizon respectively carrying containers, bitumen, steel product, soyabean, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were eight vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Maersk Kensington, MV Nord Chesapeake, MV Observator, MV Pedhoulas Trader, MT Gaspian Gas, MT Lokoja and MT Horizon carrying containers, coal soyabean, LNG, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There is one ship namely CV MOL Grandeur carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
