Government doctors went on strike across Sindh from Monday over non-payment of salaries, alllowances and health insurance Patients arriving at government hospitals across Sindh have been facing severe difficulties as the physicians are on strike and all Out-Patient Departments (OPDs) were closed in Karachi as well. Hundreds of patients were seen crowded outside the hospitals due to closure of all examination activities; such scenes were prevalent at Jinnah, Civil, Lyari General and all district-level hospitals.
Doctors said that the provincial government was given one-week time to consider their demands regarding increment in salaries, allowances and health insurance of the physicians, however, no contact was made so far by the Sindh authorities.
Doctors Action Committee (DAC) announced that OPDs will close in all hospitals for next three days and the strike will be held in emergency and other wards as well if demands were not fulfilled.
DAC Secretary General Dr Manzoor Ali said that the protestors were raising voice against injustice being made by Sindh health department. Sindh authorities have made no progress in resolution of doctors' issues despite the directives of the Supreme Court (SC).
