Among all provinces, Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has taken the lead by amassing 14.36 percent growth in revenue and collected Rs 44.373 billion during the first six months of 2018-19 against Rs 38.802 billion in same period of 2017-18. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in the half yearly performance (2018-19) has shown a growth of 2 percent only over the last year''s first six months. Punjab Revenue Authority has shown a negative growth of 2 percent in its half yearly performance up to 31 Dec 2018 compared to the first half of the last year - 2017-18.
During the first six months of the financial year 2018-19, SRB collected Rs 44.373 billion as compared to the collection of Rs 38.802 billion during the first six months of the last financial year 2017-18, registering a half-yearly growth of 14.36 percent.
During the month of December 2018, Sindh Revenue Board collected revenue of Rs 8.471 billion as compared to Rs 7.108 billion collected during December 2017, posting a growth of 19.18 percent.
The aforesaid collection has been achieved despite suspension of the collection of tax on pre-paid and post-paid cellular telecommunication services, in view of the orders of the Supreme Court. It is pertinent that the telecom sector has been the largest single contributor to the provincial sales tax revenues.
The success in achieving the aforesaid growth in revenue during the first half year of 2018-19 has been made possible because of the continued trust and cooperation of SRB taxpayers, the continuous support by the government of Sindh and the relentless efforts made by the SRB employees.
