The Karachi Port handled 308,309 tonnes of cargo comprising 294,909 tonnes of import cargo and 13,400 tonnes of export cargo including 4,584 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 294,909 tonnes comprised of 106,151 tonnes of containerised cargo; 39,269 tonnes of bulk cargo; total bulk cargo: 7,855 tonnes of rock phosphate; 26,293 tonnes of coal and 115,341 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,400 tonnes comprised of 13,400 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,584 containers comprising of 2,855 containers import and 1,729 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 940 of 20's and 857 of 40's loaded while 119 of 20's and 41 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 299 of 20's and 112 of 40's loaded containers while 742 of 20's and 232 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were thirteen ships namely Cosco Rotterdam, ETE N, CMA CGM New Jersey, Libra, Octaden, KOL, Bomar Oyster, Amstel Lion, Asbong-`1, Liberty Promise, Viking Emerald, Maersk Torshavn and Capetan Vass ilis-II carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, bitumen, mogas, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were twelve vessels viz. Cosco Rotterdam, MSC Chiara, UAFL Zanzibar, Libra, CMA CGM New Jersey, MT Shalamar, BW Falcon, Maersk Magellan, Asriko, Liberty Promise, Viking Emerald and Tatjana carrying containers, oil tankers, rock phosphate, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 31,567 tonnes includes 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 22,475 tonnes of coal and 2,592 tonnes of palm kernel. There were two ships namely MV Elsa and MT Chembulk Shanghai carrying coal and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday.
A total number of ten vessels viz. MV Anne-1, MV Pacific Valour, MV MV Elsa, MV Borno, MV Ocean Princess, MV Dewi Sarabwati, MV Stahla, MT Al Marrouva, MT Wall Eye MT Chembulk Shanghai were currently occupied berths to load/offload coal, bitumen, soyabean seeds, LNG, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight ships namely MV Amadeus, MV Shan Dong Chong, MT Maria-III, MT Lion-M, MT Glorious, MT Freight Margie, MT Atlas and MT Phonik carrying soyabean, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Maeva, CV MSC Saturn, CV MS Tiger, MV Guongz Hoyu and MT NCC Qamar carrying containers, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There were three ships namely CV CH Chinook, CV Libra and CV Safmarine Nyassa carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Monday.
