The National Highways and Motorway Police, Central Zone, has claimed to have recovered an estimated overcharged amount of Rs 1619,315 from different transport owners during the three days of Eid. This was stated by DIG Ahmad Arslan Malik during a surprise checking of overcharging in buses on the national highways near Thokar Niaz Baig. The central zone also returned an overly charged amount of about 1.6 million to 10654 passengers and imposed fines on 4835 vehicles for different violations.
Similarly, the NH&MP also imposed an estimated fine of Rs 4,939,600 to public service vehicles for overcharging and overloading. He said they also initiated stern action against buses, coaches and other PSVs in Lahore, Manga Mandi, Pattoki, Sahiwal, Multan, Okara, Khanewal, Lodhran, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan, and other major cities on the complaints of passengers.
DIG Ahmad Arslan Malik assured that the aggrieved families will never be forgotten and they will take all possible steps for the welfare of its Shuhdas.
