Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan and caretaker federal government to ensure all possible steps for holding fair and free election in Fata on July 25, 2018 in a larger national interest.
Any delay in election in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) till after assuming the charge of new government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after election may frustrate and impair the process of free and fair election, thus, depriving the people of Fata to elect representatives of their own choice in a transparent manner.
Chairman Executive Committee Shabbir Shar, former Vice Chairman Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon and former chairman executive committee of the Pakistan Bar Council, Hafeez-ur-Rehman Chaudhry, appreciated the federal government's decision to merge the Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by amending the Constitution. They said it is good that the government has accepted the longstanding demand of the Fata people. They urged upon the federal government to ensure giving right of franchise to them in the ensuing general election scheduled for July 25, 2018 enabling them also to choose and elect their representatives to the national and provincial assemblies.
