London: Europe's leading stock markets retreated at the open on Monday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index down 0.3 percent at 6,824.97 points.
In the eurozone, the Paris CAC 40 also slid 0.3 percent to 4,840.12 points and Frankfurt's DAX 30 dropped 0.1 percent to 10,852.99.
