The Karachi Port handled 93,560 tonnes of cargo comprising 35,557 tonnes of import cargo and 58,003 tonnes of export cargo including 4,510 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 35,557 tonnes comprised of 10,914 tonnes of containerised cargo and 24,643 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 58,003 tonnes comprised of 42,967 tonnes of containerised cargo; 510 tonnes of bulk cargo; 850 tonnes of cement; 7,023 tonnes of wheat; 1,193 tonnes of wheat (Gandum) and 5,460 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,510 containers comprising of 677 containers import and 3,833 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 331 of 20's and 163 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 10 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,096 of 20's and 515 of 40's loaded containers while 265 of 20's and 721 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Maliakos, KMTC Mumbai, Anton Schulte, Hansa Offenburg, Selin-D, MT Shalamar, Magda-P and Pantanassa carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and wheat respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. Clayton-II, MT Karachi, Lady Nisreen and Pretty Team carrying oil tankers, cement and wheat respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 165,522 tonnes includes 37,200 tonnes of LNG; 15,500 tonnes of palm oil; 53,750 tonnes of coal; 9,600 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 11,168 tonnes of chemical and 38,304 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,164 tonnes includes 4,698 tonnes of rice; 11,692 tonnes of cement and 21,774 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,162 containers comprising of 2,016 containers import and 1,146 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were three ships namely CV MSC Saturn, MV Star Antares and MV Lowland Amstel carrying containers and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely MT Al-Thumama and MT Yu Fu carrying LNG and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV MSC Saturn, CV Tucapel, MV Daytona Beach, MV African Horn Bill, MV New Activity, MV Star Antares, MV Free State, MV Lowland Amstel, MV Sakizaya Champion, MV Chemroad Quest, MT Al-Thumama and MT Yu Fu were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely CV CMA CGM Georgia, MV Crimson Empress, MV Zhen Bang, MV Wooyang Hermes, MV Dream Ocean, MV New Legend Ruby, MV Da Zia Yun, MV Free State, MV Vindo Nissa, MV African Puff In, MV Amis Wisdom-VI, MV Eazard Schulte, MT Maria-III, MT Maersk Magellan, MT Glorious, MT Constantnos and MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, steel product, coal, general cargo, chemical, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Georgia, CV Hansa America, CV Athenia, MV Wooyang Hermes, MV Amis Wisdom-VI, MV Eazard Schulte and MT King Kraft carrying containers, steel product, coal, chemical and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Friday. There were two ships namely CV Athenia and CV MSC Pina carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
