Prices of essential food commodities have remained stable in the retail market, as no significant increase or change was witnessed in preceding week as compared to last week. According to the survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday, the prices of important kitchen items, including vegetable, pulses, chicken, sugar and others were remained high side in retail market.
The retail price of ginger has decreased at Rs 120 per kg, which was selling at Rs 160 per kg. Big-size onion is available at Rs 40 per kg, while small-size being sold at Rs 30 per kg. Likewise, price of tomato went up from Rs 30 per kg against the price of Rs 20 per kg in previous week, while the garlic price has decreased at Rs 100 per kg, which was selling at Rs 120 and Rs 150 per kg in last week. The rate of peas has increased at Rs 80 per kg, which was selling at Rs 60 per kg in retail market. Capsicum is being sold at Rs 120 per kg, Arvi available at Rs 50 per kg.
Red-potato is being sold at Rs 30 per kg, other available at Rs 20 per kg. Cucumber is available at Rs 30 per kg, red-chili priced at Rs 80 per kg. Sugar is available at Rs 52 per kg in retail market. A marginal decrease was witnessed in prices of chicken meat in retail market, as available at Rs 166 per kg. A dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 90 in local market. The prices of pulses are remained stable as no significant change or increase was witnessed in retail market.
Rice sela is available at Rs 145 per kg, while toota rice priced at Rs 80 per kg. Dal channa is being sold at Rs 110 per kg, dal mash at Rs 120 per kg. Similarly, dal masoor is being sold at Rs 80 per kg in retail market, while the dal green priced at Rs 130 per kg, dhoti dal available at Rs 90 per kg.
The retail price of big-size white channa is available at Rs 180 per kg, while small-size white channa priced at Rs 120 per kg. Red bean is being available in different rates in retail market as being sold at Rs 170, Rs 140 and Rs 120 per kg. Likewise, price of gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 120 per kg, while price of black dal chilka was remained stable as available at Rs 140 per kg.
The survey witnessed that prices of all brand and quality of cooking oil/ghee were remained unchanged as available within range of Rs 120, Rs 160 and Rs 170 and Rs 180 in retail market. Moonge is available at Rs 120 per kg. During the visit in local market, it was noticed that butchers are defying the official rates, and selling cow meat at exorbitant rate in retail market, according to which cow beef is being available at Rs 300, Rs 320 and Rs 340 per kg. Mutton is being sold at Rs 700 and Rs 750 per kg in retail market.
According to survey, apple is being sold at Rs 200 and Rs 150 per kg, big-size Orange at Rs 90 per dozen, while small-size orange at Rs 60 and Rs 40 per dozen, big-size kinnow available at Rs 90 per dozen, small-size being sold at Rs 50-40 per dozen, guava at Rs 80-100 per kg, banana at Rs 50 and Rs 80 per dozen.
The survey noticed that one litre fresh milk is being sold at Rs 100 and Rs 120 against the official fixed rate of Rs 80 per litre. Yogurt is being available at Rs 100 and Rs 110 per kg. Good quality black tea is being available at Rs 350 per kg and Rs 400 per kg, green tea at Rs 250 per kg, a one kilogram pack of milk powder at Rs 700 in retail market.
