The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday announced to stage a street demonstration to resist any move of giving the Sharif family an amnesty under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). While addressing a membership camp, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed and MNA Shafqat Mahmood said the time had come for justice to prevail in the country. They further said PTI had launched a struggle to create a corruption-free and just country for common men. "Our struggle has exposed the corruption of the Sharif family," they added.
The PTI leaders warned that no NRO will be acceptable to the PTI that gives amnesty to the Sharif family; if the corrupt leaders were pardoned for their crime, it will be unfair with the people. "If an NRO was given to the corrupt rulers, they will carry out street agitations," they added.
Meanwhile, while addressing a party meeting, Senator Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar stated that an act of NRO tantamount to a criminal act against the entire nation. "Pakistan cannot afford any kind of such deal and the nation will come on the streets if such a deal was made. Everything must be done as per the law. Any extra constitutional step will prove disastrous for the country," he added. Sarwar averred that the people demand accountability of corrupt people and the people will reject any kind of NRO. About the general elections, he said they would not tolerate any delay; it must be held on time.
