The Met Office on Wednesday forecast a hot to very hot and dry weather for the central and southern parts of the country in the next 24 hours. Mercury level peaked to 45 degrees Celsius in Chorr (Lower Sindh) and Turbat (Balochistan) over the past 24 hours, as hot waves battered pats of both provinces. Temperature in Shaheed Benazirabad was 44 and Mithi 42. The capital city of Sindh - Karachi sizzled with 40.5 degrees Celsius.
The Met said gusty winds are likely to strike Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Lahore Divisions and Islamabad in the next 24 hours. Mainly dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country.
Temperature in the next 24 hours in Sindh's districts is expected to remain up to 45 degrees Celsius each, in Umerkot, Tharparkar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar and Noshahro Feroze. Dadu is likely to sizzle with 44 degrees Celsius.
The hot weather is expected to simmer Mirpurkhas, Kashmore, Qambar Shahdadkot, Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Hyderabad, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jamshoro and Mityari with 43 degrees Celsius. Thatta, Sujawal and Badin are likely to witness 42 degrees Celsius while Karachi 41.
In the past 24 hours: Weather remained dry in the most parts of the country with an isolated rain-thunderstorm in Malakand Division and Gilgit-Baltistan. Maximum rain was recorded in Astore as 10 mm, Gupis 4 mm and Hunza 3 mm.
Maximum temperature in Nawabshah was 43.5 degrees Celsius, Thatta, Sukrand and Mirpurkhas 42, each, Moen-Jo-Daro 41.5, Rohri, Hyderabad, Badin and Larkana 41, each, Dadu 40.6, Karachi 40.5 and Jacobabad 40.0.
