As many as 150 PhD and LLM scholars of the University of Sindh have received laptops under Prime Minister's Laptop scheme for less developed areas. In this regard, a ceremony was organized at Senate Hall of Administration Block (AC-II) by office of the SU Focal Person for Prime Minister's Laptop distribution.
A total of 150 PhD and LLM scholars belonging to various departments of the varsity were given away laptops jointly by VC SU Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat and Minister of State for Food Security and Research Syed Ayaz Shah Sheerazi.
The awardees were shortlisted by higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad on the basis of their academic proficiency in their last and recent-most examinations through a rigorous, competitive and fool-proof mechanism and process. Expressing his views on the eve, VC SU Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat welcoming State Minister Sheerazi said that progress was not possible without education and research. He expressed delight over increasing interest of youth in research and said that the use of laptop would greatly assist young researchers in execution of their studies. He also complimented the scholars on their rightful achievement and urged them to convey to their other counterparts also to work diligently to qualify for the same lucrative incentive. He appreciated the indefatigable efforts of Dr Wazir Ali Baloch and his dedicated team towards timely, smooth and efficient distribution of laptops. State Minister Sheerazi declared youth as a shining stars of national firmament of Pakistan, who, he said were the cynosure of their hopes. Shah presented the argument that only intelligent section of society could significantly contribute towards success and prosperity of the country.
Regional Director, HEC Karachi Javed Ali Memon also spoke on the occasion. Those who attended the ceremony included Focal Person, SU Thatta Campus Professor Dr Sarfaraz Hussain Solangi, SU Focal Person for Laptop Scheme Professor Dr Wazir Ali Baloch and Technical Monitoring Officer Laptop Scheme, HEC Islamabad.
