The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 51.248 million by end-February 2018, said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 147.204 million by end-February 2018 compared to 145.99 million by end-January 2018, which registered an increase of 1.214 million during the period under review.
Jazz's total count for 3G users stood at 14.88 million by end-February 2018 compared to 14.54 million by end-January 2018 and registered an increase of 0.34 million. Jazz 4G user numbers jumped from 2,238,018 by end-January 2018 to 2,590,095 by end-February 2018. Zong 3G subscribers decreased to 8.893 million by end-February 2018 from 9.089 million by end-January 2018, while the number of 4G users jumped from 5,072,443 by end-January to 5,830,231.
The number of 3G users of Telenor network increased from 10.756 million by end-January 2018 to 10.878 million by end-February 2018. The number of 4G users jumped from 1,883,616 by end-January 2018 to 2,154,238 by end-February 2018. Ufone added 0.149 million 3G users on its network during the month of February as the total number reached 6.018 by end-February 2018 against 5.869 million by end-January 2018.
Teledensity for cellular mobile reached 74.04 percent and number of broadband subscribers reached 53,554,231 by end-February 2018 as compared to 51,767,141 in January 2018. Data showed that the PTA received 2,757 complaints from telecom consumers against different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) as of February 2018.
According to the PTA data, Jazz (Mobilink + Warid) leads the chart with 770 complaints and the PTCL stands at second position with 765 complaints. The PTA said that it was able to get 2,683 complaints resolved ie 97.28 percent.
The cellular mobile subscribers constitute major part of overall telecom subscriber base; therefore, maximum number of complaints belongs to this segment. Total number of complaints against CMOs by February 2018 stood at 1,944. In terms of the segregation of complaints on operator basis, a total of 770 complaints were received against Jazz which is 39.60 per cent of the total CMO related complaints.
Telenor, which has the second largest number of consumers, was second with 479 complaints ie 24.63 percent. Zong stood third with 389 complaints ie 20.01 percent of total complaints. Ufone had 306 complaints against its various services which made up 15.74 percent of the total CMO-related complaints.
