Government wishes to have durable ties with neighbours: Asif

Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that Pakistan is peace loving country and keen in developing cordial relations with its neighboring counties on bases of equal footings for maintaining peace in the region. Talking to Business Recorder here on Sunday the Minister said that our top priority is peace for the larger interests of masses of the region but this flexibility should not be underestimated. Answering a question the Minister said that adequate efforts were being made to develop healthy and durable relations with Afghanistan, Iran, India and Russia as well as other countries of the region.
To another question the Foreign Minister said that high-ups of Pakistan and Indian governments are in-touch to handle harassment incidents of Pakistani High Commission adding that hopefully efforts in this regard would be fruitful and relationship between the two neighboring countries would become normal. Pakistan and Russia are enjoying highly cordial relations and Russia extending cooperation and support to Pakistan in different fields, the Foreign Minister said.
Asif further added that the relation between Pakistan and Russia would be further strengthened with passage of time and both the countries would become closer. We want to see Afghanistan a Peaceful and stable country because Pakistan would be benefited more peaceful Afghanistan than any country of world he said.
The Minister said Pakistan was making hectic efforts for purging the country from menace of terrorism and to convert Pakistan a safe heaven adding Pakistan had rendered great scarifies of precious human lives and suffered economic loss in war against terrorism and world should recognized the scarifies rendered by Pakistan in war against terrorism and ignoring the scarifies will be unjust. No country in the world has done more than Pakistan to counter the menace of terrorism and no country of glob has suffered more than Pakistan he said.
The Foreign Minister further stated that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will play an instrumental role in bringing revolutionary change and usher economic stability and prosperity not only in the country but also in the whole region. The economic stability had become more vital at this juncture for making the country economically stable, bringing prosperity and to boost development process in the country he said.
