Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Friday started to carry out work to restore an amenity park of Gulberg to its original condition, which was utilized to build a road to facilitate the residence of former finance minister Ishaq Dar.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had taken suo motu notice against the encroachment of the park in H Block Gulberg III to convert a single-lane road into double-lane outside the residence of Ishaq Dar.
LDA Director General Zahid Akhtar Zaman had conceded before the CJP that the former finance minister on behalf of the community had requested him to construct the road. He had also told the court that around Rs 2 million had been incurred on the construction of the road.
