Far-right US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have spoken by phone discussing topics including the political crisis in the Maldives, the war in Afghanistan and the plight of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar, the White House said.
It is said that the Trump administration has launched an effort to deepen military and economic ties with India as a way to balance China's assertive posture across Asia. It is quite ironic that the US President was discussing the Afghanistan issue with a head of government of a country that has clearly and unambiguously added to the Afghan conflict. It is also a matter of grave concern for every person on earth who believes in the dignity of human rights that the US President chose to spoke to a person on the plight of the Muslim Rohingyas who is widely held responsible for the killing of thousands of innocent Muslims. President Trump seems to have lost his marbles.
