As many as 57 candidates received nomination papers from the provincial election commission office here on Saturday. Ishaq Dar, Chaudhry Sarwar, Haroon Akhtar, Kamal Ali Agha, Inamullah Niazi, Rana Javed Iqbal and others received nomination papers. The election commission fixed Rs 20,000 fee for nomination of the senate elections. The provincial commission received 11 nomination papers only.
The Senate election is being held on March 3 for 52 seats. In Punjab, elections are being conducted on 12 seats including seven general seats, two technocrats, two women and one for minority seat. The candidates could submit their nomination papers till February 6 and withdraw on February 16. Polling for Punjab seats will be held in Punjab Assembly.
