Ukraine's Black Sea port grain export capacity rose to 68 million tonnes per year at the end of 2017, while port storage facilities stood at around 3.4 million tonnes, trade magazine Ukraine's Ports said on Wednesday. Export loading capacity was expanded by 1.75 million tonnes in 2017, the magazine said. It said at least 8 grain export terminals plan to boost their capacities significantly this year, increasing loading facilities for export by around 14 million tonnes.
"By the end of 2018 the grain cargo storage capacities in Ukrainian sea ports will grow by 27 percent and amount to 4.295 million tonnes while the terminal capacity for grain transhipment will be 82 million tonnes per year," it said. Ukraine which harvested around 62 million tonnes of grain in 2017, plans to boost its harvest to around 80 million tonnes over the next 10 years.
The country consumes around 20 million tonnes of grain per year, exporting the remainder to dozens of countries.
