Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works Thursday decided to visit residential projects of I-16 and Thallian to examine the groundwork and progress made so far. A meeting of the committee was held here in the Parliament House in the chair of Senator Maulana Tanveer-ul-Haq Thanvi.
The committee was informed that government employees and people from other walks of life have deposited billions of rupees for their plots in the two schemes, but the groundwork on them is delayed. The committee members were also informed that Public Accounts Committee has already referred the matter of both the schemes to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for investigation.
In the sector I-16 of Islamabad, as many as 24 blocks have been created in Pakistan Housing Authority project and apartments of different sizes would be constructed there, the committee was informed.
