Provincial Doctors Association (PDA) Youth Forum has expressed great resentment over inability of provincial government and authorities concerned to arrest killers of Dr Wajid Ali and Dr Khurshid Alam immediately, who were gunned down by unknown armed people. Addressing at a press conference at press club on Tuesday, the PDA Youth Forum President, Dr Hamid Khan said that the killers of Dr Wajid Ali are still at large, but the provincial government, police and security agencies had failed to arrest them.
He informed that Dr Wajid Ali, resident of Swat was killed by some unidentified armed persons over resistance on snatching mobile from him two months back in Peshawar.
Flanked by Head of Swat Peace Jirga, Inamur Rahman, Spokesman of Jirga, Sayel Khan, PDA Youth Forum President Peshawar region, Dr Amjad Afridi, uncle of Dr Wajid Ali, Bacha Khan, and the members of civil society from Swat, and others, Dr Hamid said that an inquiry committee was constituted on directives of KP chief minister to conduct inquiry into murder of Dr Wajid Ali. But, he regretted that committee report was yet not made public.
He further said that few days back another member of doctor community, Dr Khurshid Alam was killed by unknown armed persons, but no one arrested so far. He said there was no proper security plan for doctors and medical students in the province. He said Dr Khurshid Alam was kidnapped for ransom and killed later.
Dr Hamid demanded the special compensation package for heirs of Dr Wajid Ali and Dr Khurshid Alam. He also called for renaming of any hostel in Kabir Medical College after Dr Wajid Ali. He suggested that a comprehensive security plan should be chalked out to prevent street crime in Peshawar. He urged the KP chief minister, IGP and chief secretary to take immediate notice of the increasing target killings of the doctors' community in the province.
He warned that if the provincial government failed to arrest the killers of Dr Wajid Ali and Dr Khurshid Alam within two weeks, they would start protest campaign and block entire system in Swat.
