Serene Air, one of fastest growing domestic airline, is likely to commence its international operations by February 2018. Talking to Business Recorder, Nehal Akbar, Regional Director South Serene Air told that the airline, presently running its operations with three Boeing 737-800 planes, would qualify for international operations after inducting two more similar aircraft on dry lease by February 2018; adding that Serene Air would initially expand its wings to Saudi Arabia, Iraq and China destinations. He further said that airline had planned to enlarge its fleet to eight aircraft by December next year.
Replying to a question, Nehal said that the airline, which had introduced family fare and collecting no charges on infant tickets, witnessed over 90 percent passengers load during peak season that helped the airline to grab 38 per cent of domestic market share in first eight months of its operations. Moreover, he said that domestic and international travellers were continuously increasing and local airlines had to commence operations on new social economic routes.
He said that there are 22 airports in the country where local airlines could manage its operations. "Instead of providing congenial environment to the local airlines, the government is facilitating foreign airlines, which are taking millions of rupees to its respective countries." He urged the government to promulgate friendly policies for local airlines as it would not only benefit the airlines but would also help strengthening aviation sector of the country.
