Apple patent indicates new design for future iPhones

Since the start, Apple’s iPhone designs have more or less been the same, but apparently that might soon change.

A new patent granted to Apple described future iPhone models that might feature a gradient finish on the device’s back, similar to that already seen in Huawei P20 Pro, as reported by MySmartPrice.

The patent titled ‘Surface Finishing’ indicates that Apple might change the look of its future iPhone’s surface under the outer glass shell. This will generate rainbow effects, gradients and other designs that change colors on the device’s back, reported Phone Arena.

The patent describes the use of computer numerical controlled (CNC) milling for creating grooves on the device’s surface. Apple will tend of use ceramic beads of specific size for changing the grooves to create a controlled color shift that would appear when the device is even faintly moved.

Meanwhile, there are already rumors surfacing about Apple planning to redesign its 2019 iPhone models. These reports might relate to the patent indicating the gradient surface iPhones might be released next year.
