Pakistan registers $3.6bn in remittances for September 2026

The inflow of overseas workers’ remittances into Pakistan stood at $3.6 billion in September 2026, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data showed on Friday.
Remittances showed 12.7% increase on year-on-year basis from $3.2 billion recorded in September 2025.
Meanwhile, it recorded a 1.9% decrease on month-on-month basis from $3.7 billion in August 2026.
Cumulatively, workers’ remittances increased by 14.74% during Jul-Sept FY27 to $10.9 billion, compared to $9.5 billion received during the same period last fiscal year.
Remittances play a significant role in supporting the country’s external account, stimulating Pakistan’s economic activity, and supplementing the disposable incomes of remittance-dependent households.
Major corridors of workers’ remittances
Overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia remitted the largest amount in September 2026, sending $899.13 million. The amount was up 19.73% compared to the $750.98 million sent by the expatriates in the same month last year. The amount was also higher by 3% compared to $873.52 million in August 2026.
Inflows from the United Arab Emirates rose by 10% on a yearly basis, from $677.15 million in September 2025 to $748.53 million in September 2026. On a monthly basis, remittances decreased by 0.17%, from $749.83 million registered in August 2026.
Remittances from the UK amounted to $515.15 million in September 2026, up 13.3% from $454.79 million in the same month last year.
Overseas Pakistanis in the US sent $305.87 million in September 2026, a 13.7% increase from $269.02 million in the same month last year. On a monthly basis, remittances from the US decreased by 1% from $308.84 million in August 2026.
Meanwhile, remittances from European Union (EU) countries clocked in at $447.71 million in September 2026, recording a decrease of 9.7% on a monthly basis from $495.94 million in August 2026.
