The Board of Directors of HBL in its meeting of September 14, 2017 approved the appointment of Ashraf Mahmood Wathra as Senior Corporate Consultant to the Bank on International strategy and operations. Wathra recently completed his term as Governor State Bank of Pakistan. He had joined the State Bank of Pakistan as Deputy Governor in March 2013 and was appointed as Governor State Bank of Pakistan in April 2014. He has also served on the Board of Governors of IMF, Asian Clearing Union, Eco Trade Development Bank and was co-chair of the Financial Stability Board - Regional Consultancy Group for Asia.
"Wathra is a seasoned banker with over 35 years of experience who has served in senior positions in Pakistani and overseas banks. He had a long career with HBL during which he worked in various international locations and was on the Board of Habib Finance International, Hong Kong and was Vice Chairman of Himalayan Bank, Nepal.
