Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will formally open "Daad Rasi" centre for women in the city on Saturday (today)) to check violence against women and provide justice to them under one roof. The initiative was taken under Chief Minister's Strategic Reforms Unit (SRU) and it would be Pakistan's first Centre for Female Survivors of Violence, says an official release issued here on Friday.
The CM Punjab would also be accompanying ambassadors of different countries on the occasion. Director General SRU Salman Sufi said the SRU worked hard to put in place facilities for implementation on women protection bill and Daad Rasi centre for women was one such initiative to eliminate violence against women. Salman Sufi said it would be the first centre in South Asia where women would be able to get justice under one roof in case of any kind of torture or harassment.
Located at Matti Tal road in Multan, the centre would provide all kinds of free legal and medical assistance to aggrieved women besides free residential accommodation and cooperation would be extended to them to ensure transparency in investigations. Trained female staff would be deputed to deal with women complainants properly.
Salman Sufi disclosed that Home department had declared Daad Rasi centre as police station to ensure that process of complaints relevant to police be completed under one roof. The centre would be run through cooperation from the Social Welfare department and Baitul Maal.
