The Karachi Port handled 127,514 tonnes of cargo comprising 110,289 tonnes of import cargo and 17,225 tonnes of export cargo including 5,224 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 110,289 tonnes comprised of 48,036 tonnes of containerised cargo; 27,840 tonnes of general cargo; 22,913 tonnes of bulk cargo: 9,928 tonnes of coal; 4,035 tonnes of soyabean meal; 5,200 tonnes of rock phosphate; 3,750 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 11,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 17,225 tonnes comprised of 17,225 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 5,224 containers comprising of 3,105 containers import and 2,119 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,193 of 20's and 948 of 40's loaded while 16 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 464 of 20's and 226 of 40's loaded containers while 269 of 20's and 467 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely MSC Chiara, Express Black Sea, Elka Delphi, Al Mahboobah and IVS Pinehurst carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. Hammonia Virginia, FS Sincerity, Everrich-7 and Patriot carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Taroko and Filia Glory carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Kota Kamil and Ever Diamond carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There are six vessels viz. Wan Hai-511, SM Mumbai, Sima Genesis, Justis Victoria, Iris Halo and Lian Hua Song carrying containers, mogas, coal and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 143,601 tonnes comprising 128,667 tonnes of import cargo and 14,934 tonnes of export cargo including 3,620 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 128,667 tonnes includes 44,056 tonnes of furnace oil; 11,600 tonnes of palm oil; 19,165 tonnes of coal and 53,846 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 14,934 tonnes includes 14,934 ttonnes of containerised cargo As many as 3,620 containers comprising of 2,834 containers import and 786 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely CV Maersk Detroit carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely MV Pacific Award and MT Karachi carrying project cargo and furnace oil expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maersk Detroit, CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Al-Safat, MV Pacific Award, MV Fuming, MT Karachi and MT Argent Cosmos currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV Maersk Savannah, MV Ji Xian Song, MT Gaschem Adriatic, MT Bneider, MT Al Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Elandra Palm, MT Shalamar. MT Lahore, MT Brizo and MT CH Zephyr carrying containers, project cargo, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Savannah, MV Ji Xian Song and MT Gaschem Adriatic carrying containers, project cargo and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were six ships namely CV MSC Albany, CV MSC Claudia, CV MSC Massina, MV Da Liang, MV JI Xiang Song and MT Umm Bab carrying containers, project cargo and LNG respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are four ships namely CV Priority, CV MSC Veronique, MV Berlin and MT Duhail carrying containers, soyabean seeds and LNG respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while two ships namely CV Tino and CV Hansa America carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
