The Supreme Court on Monday turned down plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Usman Dar, seeking revisit of apex court's verdict which found no irregularities in success of incumbent Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in general election 2013.
On November 10 last, a bench of former Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali dismissed PTI's candidate Dar's petition seeking disqualification of Khawaja Asif in the NA-110 constituency on the grounds of irregularities in the election. It is pertinent to mention that Election Tribunal earlier decided in favour of PML-N's Khawaja Asif, who had won the May 2013 general election from NA-110, Sialkot. However, PTI's Usman Dar had challenged the decision in the Supreme Court as the PTI sought investigation into rigging allegations. Khawaja Asif had secured 92,803 votes against 71,525 votes of Dar.
On Monday, dismissing the review petition of Dar, a three-member bench led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar upheld the apex court's earlier verdict saying there was no tangible grounds to support the review petition filed by PTI's Usman Dar in the matter.
