Dozens of tribesmen staged a protest demonstration against proposed privatisation of Agency Headquarter Hospital, Landi Kotal on Monday. Dozens of tribal elders, political workers and health officials while holding placards and banner inscribed with slogans in favour of their demand. The protesters marched from the hospital to Fawara chowk.
Leaders from political and religious parties including President Young Doctor Association, Dr Asheq, former Paramedical Association President Fazal Rehman, President Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Agency, Shah Hussain Shinwari, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Muqthader Shah Afridi, Pakistan People Party (PPP) Khyber President, Hazrat Wali Afridi and leader of Tanzeem Ahle-Sunnah Wal Jamaat, Ihsan ullah Junaidi were present on the occasion who addressed to participants.
The speakers clearly said they would not let anyone to privatise the Landi Kotal Headquarter Hospital as it is tantamount to depriving tribesmen from basic right of health. The step to privatise the hospital will be considered as to push the tribesmen towards the walls, they added.
The authorities concerned, they stated had earlier announced giving A-grade status to hospital but unfortunately after construction of building, it was not given due status and crew was not provided as well. Lashing out at parliamentarians, they said they had not raised their voice against the expected privatisation of hospital. Angry protesters categorically warned they would come on roads and stage sit-in in front of Governor House Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if their demands will not be accepted.
