Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) senior leader and former deputy prime minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has criticised the PML-N led Punjab government for calling army to hold PSL final match in Lahore. "If the Punjab government cannot arrange six-hour match even in its capital, what responsibility it is supposed to take of?" Elahi questioned.
Talking to media at his residence on Friday, Elahi said that army is engaged on many fronts and tension on eastern and western borders is increasing every day. Under these circumstances, involving army in security of cricket match amounts to interrupting its war against terrorism, he said.
Elahi said the Punjab government should accept its inefficiency and quit. For the first time, the government has sought help of the army for holding a match. "God forbid, if any incident occurs, its responsibility will be put on the security agency," he said.
He further said that despite 9/11, during our five years tenure, international cricket was played in Punjab and no foreign player was afraid of coming to Pakistan. Cricket teams of India, Australia, South Africa and West Indies had played matches here and no security was required by the army. Elahi said by holding the entire city hostage for one match, it is being propagated that Pakistan has become the most dangerous country of the world.
