The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) took a bold initiative to facilitate its pensioners through commissioning an online transfer system to transfer pension directly in the accounts of KPT Pensioners. The facility was inaugurated by Chairman KPT Vice Admiral (retd) Shafqat Jawed in the Pension Office at KPT Head Office building in the presence of General Manager Finance Nazeer Ahmad Seehar and other top management of KPT.
The new facility is a one window operation and has abolished the old system of payment through Pension Books. The Chairman KPT Vice Admiral Shafqat Jawed, while speaking on the occasion said that the new system will enable the KPT to online transfer pension to the individual bank account of each Pensioner whether they are stationed in Karachi or in other cities of Pakistan. Every month they will be able to draw out pension from their bank account just like any other amount through their ATM cards, he added.
While making comparison with the old system, the Chairman Shafqat Jawed said that the KPT has more than 7,000 pensioners who had to come to KPT to initialise their pensions and the pension was granted manually to the Pensioners while stamping on their Pension Books which was tedious and time consuming and the Pensioners living in cities other than Karachi had to face more problems. He stressed on providing easy facilities to Pensioners who have served KPT.
Highlighting more on the newly adopted system, the Chairman KPT said that it eases the respected pensioners of KPT as they now are not required to make lines in front of the pension cell office which was extremely tough for the Pensioners in hot summers.-PR
