Minority bodies' complaints: grievances centre at divisional level formed
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Minorities Affairs Department, Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan has said that the grievances centre at the divisional level has been set up for redressal of complaints of minority communities. Talking to a delegation of Department of International Development (DFID) of UK government led by Ms Susan Loughead, he stressed upon the need to promote interfaith harmony for the stability and security of the country.
He informed that security surveillance cameras would be installed in the worship places of minorities for beefing-up security arrangements. Earlier, Ms Susan Loughead informed about the working of her organisation and added that her organisation would like to work with Minority Affairs Department on the issues of minorities particularly related to the law and order.
She said that they will share their experiences with the Minority Affairs Department in order to ensure the rights of minority in Sindh Province. Secretary Minority Affairs Department, Abdul Haleem Shaikh briefed about the progress and achievements of the Department. He informed that Rs 600 million has been earmarked for the construction and renovation of worship places of minority community while Rs 300 million has been allocated for Grant-in-Aid, which include Financial and Medical Aid to widow, disable and needy person. He further elaborated that for marriage of girls belonging to poor families financial aid would also granted, adding that around Rs 1500 million has been allocated for renovation of the oldest temple Sadhoo Bella.
