At least 56 elected representatives of local government including 50 nazims of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have given their resignations to a disgruntled MPA Mehmood Jan with the powers to submit them to election commission of Pakistan in protest against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for ignoring PK-7 Peshawar constituency in development schemes.
Speaking at a crowded press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday Nazims, Tajamul Hussain and Abdul Sattar, said that PTI member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from PK-7-Peshawar Mehmood Jan was disappointment with the chief minister and had tendered resignation from the assembly seat in protest over disparity and injustice in distribution of uplift funds.
"Mehmood Jan is an elected MPA of PK-7 whereas funds are given to and distributed by workers of Qaumi Watan Party and Jamaat-I-Islami on behest of Pervez Khattak which is not acceptable. We have resigned from our seats to express solidarity with the MPA as he is fighting for our rights and rights of the people of our constituency and we will support him at all cost," Tajamul said.
The nazims alleged that chief minister was neither considering PTI members of provincial assembly nor nazims for development funds and that is why the party workers were forced to tender resignation and hold protest demonstrations. Besides, they revealed that all 10 MPAs from Peshawar were disappointed and ready to offer resignations in protest against Chief Minister's attitude and indifference. They claimed that development funds were being given to the QWP and JI leaders of Peshawar who lost elections but still they are being favoured with funds to spend in various constituencies.
Similarly, Insaf Students Federation (ISF) Peshawar region President Inamullah Khan also warned that if provincial government did not address the grievances of the disgruntled MPA within 24 hours then students, nazims, councillors and all other office bearers would resign from their official responsibilities.
