The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) grid system operations is likely to be handed over to the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), said sources. They said the NTDC would run 132 Kv grid stations and transmission system while the LESCO would be restricted to distribution and billing. According to the sources, the decision is under consideration to improve the transmission system after the government's announcement of ending load shedding in 2018.
It would help LESCO to get rid of the transmission burden. An up-gradation of the transmission system is need of the hour in order to strengthen the system once the transmission lines are over burdened with full load. Already, the NTCDC was operating 500 Kv and 220 Kv systems.
