The Sindh Rangers claimed to have killed seven hardcore terrorists associated with banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) here on Monday. In a detailed statement, a Rangers spokesman said the paramilitary troops conducted a targeted raid at a hideout in Shah Lateef Town on the basis of intelligence reports about the presence of hardcore terrorists in the area on late Sunday night.
They said the terrorists opened fire after seeing the Rangers. 4 of them were killed in exchange of fires from Rangers while others managed to escape from the scene. Minutes after the shootings, Rangers came again under fire when the terrorists again resorted to fringe about some 300 meters from the vacated house that caused subsequent gun battle and 3 more terrorists were killed while 1 Ranger's personnel also got injured. Automatic weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possessions during the course of action.
Their identifications have been ascertained as Omar Hayat aka Qadri, Amir Ali Chaudhry, Ajtabah Ahmad, Feroz aka, Salman aka, Salman Javed, Muhammad Shakeel Barmi and Aqib Yousaf.
Omar Hayat was involved in attack on Jinnah Airport in 2014. Others also involved in various terrorists activities. On February 17, the Rangers also claimed to have shot dead as many as 18 terrorists of banned organisations including ISIS, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar here in Manghopir and Superhighway areas of metropolis. Among the killed terrorists, Malik Tasadduq Hussain was associated from Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Noshad Khan aka Mama from Jamat-ul-Ahrar, Sheraz Ahmad from ISIS, Sheraz aka Sajad from Jamat-ul-Ahrar, Yaseen aka Choto, Muhammad Rashid aka Noor Alam aka Shoaib and Hidayatullah involved in target killings of police, sectarian violence, and bomb attacks.
The law enforcers intensified their operations in the wake of deadly bombing at the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan city of the Sindh province that left as many as 100 devotees killed and more than 300 others injured. 3 more people were killed in separate violence incidents in Karachi. According to police and rescue sources, Shakeela wife of Ajmal Khan was shot dead allegedly by her brother Shaheen Shah at Banaras, in the jurisdictions of Peerabad police station. The body of victim was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police said further investigations were underway.
Nabeel son of Shoukat allegedly committed suicide by hanging against the ceiling fan inside a house in Sector 17/A Saeedabad, Baldia Town, in the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station. Further investigations were in process. Asghar Imam Son of Ashiq, who got injured during a protest against the robbery incidents at Islam Chowk, Orangi Town yesterday, succumbed to injuries during treatment at ASH here on Monday, the police said.
