Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has given assurance to the business fraternity to initiate sector-specific deliberations in order to resolve tax related issues. This was stated by Siraj Kassim Teli, Chairman Businessmen Group during media briefing after concluding meeting with Khalid Mehmood, Chairman SRB and other officials at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), here on Saturday.
He said that issues related to travel agents, indenters, security agencies, manufacturers, etc were discussed with SRB officials; adding that the provincial revenue authority believed that all aforesaid sectors were in the domain of SRB however the representatives of these sectors opposed the claim. Teli said that SRB assured to initiate sector-specific deliberations in order to resolve tax related issues; adding that the biggest ambiguity was the definition of service provider in SRB law that led putting taxpayers in an uncertain state.
He further said that chamber had requested the chairman SRB to make clarity in the definition of service provider and ensure that service provider would be described same in the laws of both provincial and federal revenue authorities. Meanwhile, Khalid Mehmood, Chairman SRB said that provincial revenue authority was business friendly organization and vowed to resolve businessmen issues after sector-wise deliberations. He said that committee, which was constituted under the directives of Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, had convened four meetings to discuss issues. A large number of members were present on the occasion.
