Crime rate on the rise in Islamabad

Despite presence of a large number of police pickets in various parts of the federal capital, crime rate in the capital city is increasing with each passing day, as robbery incidents have shown an upward trend during the last week. According to data gathered by Business Recorder, robbers and dacoits struck at 11 different places depriving citizens of valuables worth millions of rupees, auto thieves stole seven vehicles while a woman was kidnapped during last week.
During the week under review, the most favourite areas for criminal gangs were those situated within the limits of Sabzi Mandi, Tarnol and Lohi Bher police stations. Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases of auto theft and three cases of robberies. Ibrar-ul-Hussain lodged a complaint with Sabzi Manid police station that three armed robbers intercepted him when he was on his way on his bike (ANQ-125) and snatched his motorbike at gunpoint. In another incident, unknown thieves stole laptop, mobile phone and cash from the car of Muhammad Bilal while another Muhammad Khursheed of Sector I-10/2 lodged a complaint with Sabzi Mandi Police station that unknown thieves stole cash, mobile phone and mobile phone batteries from his shop.
Auto thieves stole a car (ALA-739) of Aminullah Baig and lifted a bike (RIK-5659) of Irfan Ali from the limits of same police station. Lohi Bheer police station registered one case each of auto theft and robbery. Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number ES-064 of Abdul Samad of PWD Colony. In another incident, unknown robbers broke into the house of one Pervez Ahmad at Bahria Town and looted cash and gold ornaments.
Tarnol police station registered two cases of robbery. In the first incident, robbers broke into the house of Riaz Ahmad at Sector D-17 and stole cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth thousands of rupees and a 9MM pistol. In the second incident, Khan Muhammad lodged a complaint with Tarnol police station that seven unknown persons snatched cash, mobile phone and necessary documents from him at gunpoint.
During the last week, Industrial Area, Noon and Aabpara police stations registered one case each of auto theft while Koral, Margalla, Karachi Company, Shehzad Town and Bhara Kahu police stations registered one case each of robbery.
