The Karachi Port handled 141,076 tonnes of cargo comprising 127,757 tonnes of import cargo and 13,319 tonnes of export cargo including 5,748 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 127,757 tonnes comprised of 45,946 tonnes of containerised cargo; 9,745 tonnes of general cargo; 19,470 tonnes of bulk cargo and 52,596 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,319 tonnes comprised of 8,682 tonnes of containerised cargo; 74 tonnes of general cargo and 4,563 tonnes of bulk cargo. As many as 5,748 containers comprising of 3,737 containers import and 2,011 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,043 of 20's and 1,123 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 224 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 182 of 20's and 185 of 40's loaded containers while 517 of 20's and 471 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely X-Press Kailash, FPMC P Glory, Leader, Ince Fortune, Magpie SW, Long Lucky, Centenario Blu, Liberty Pride and Mandarin Sky carrying containers, oil tankers, seeds, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. Northern Dependant, Corona, SBI Hera, Spar Apus and AL Masi carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely CMA CGM Puget and Najdiah carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Adrian Schulte and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. Maliakos and BF Ayita carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while five vessels viz. MSC Valencia, High Beam, Bon Atlantico, Clovis Comet and Heilan Brother carrying containers, mogas, chemical, vehicle and steel respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 139,274 tonnes includes 36,183 tonnes of furnace oil; 3,250 tonnes of palm oil; 8,639 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,659 tonnes of LPG; 8,730 tonnes of chemical; 393 tonnes of project cargo and 79,420 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 15,257 tonnes includes 15,257 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,983 containers comprising of 4,180 containers import and 803 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely MV Astraea SB carrying canola seeds sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Pittsburgh and MT Khor Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Tokomo, CV Mataquito, CV Maersk Pittsburgh, CV Jazan, CV MSC Messina, MV Astraea SB, MT Maria-III, MT Khor Gas, MT Arietis and MT SC Behai currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemical, project cargo, canola seeds, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely MV Marco, MV Bunga Alamanda, MV FPMC Fortune, MT Khor Gas, MT Nordic Gas, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Ashada, MT Pacific Energy, MT Harmony-1 and MT Navig-8 Aqua Marine carrying canola seeds, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV Chastine Maersk and MV Marco carrying containers and canola seeds expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Grains & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were eight ships namely CV Chastine Maersk, CV CMA CGM Maersk, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Chance, MT Bunga Alamanda, MT Bneider, MT Navig-8 Aqua Marine and MT Chemroad Mega carrying containers, soyabean seeds, diesel oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
